SpringHaven Counseling Center is located in the gently rolling hills of Wayne and Holmes Counties, an ideal setting for Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC).  EAC is offered in addition to or in place of traditional office therapy sessions.  Interactive and experiential with a specialized treatment team, EAC allows individuals to learn from natural successes, mistakes, and consequences.

The focus of Equine Assisted Counseling is not riding or horsemanship, but rather self-exploration, insight, skills building, and learning.  Horses, being social animals, are natural communicators.  Through relationship and structured scenarios in EAC, horse and human interact with and impact each other emotionally and behaviorally.  The horse’s honest emotional responses provide opportunities for immediate feedback and shifts in maladaptive, problematic, or unwanted behavior and thinking patterns.

Equine Assisted Counseling can be effective for:

  • Adults,Children, and Adolescents
